Tuesday, October 25 Just checking in. I've been keeping busy for the past few days... work at home, work at the office, friends who need little projects done. I have to admit to being a little overwhelmed, although I think that's due mostly to still being a little under the weather from last week's cold. The kitties are fine and dandy, and you'd never know from looking at them crashed out on my couch that we're having a nor'easter here today. They're about as out of it as you can get and still be breathing. I'm a sucker for a happy cat. :) Anyone know why fireplaces leak? Aside from the obvious "from the top" answer... I mean, I've had them before and no leaking... this one... always wet at the bottom when it rains. It's not a huge deal, it dries up, and it's not a flood (at least not yet!), but my landlord has told me they tried to get it addressed a few times, and so far no luck. I was just curious. Lessseeeee.... shows I'm watching and liking? My Na*me is Ea*rl - SUPER show. Catch it if you can. I'm enjoying Pri*son Break, although the early episodes were painfully slow and they almost lost me twice. The past two episodes are finally on pace and I'm actually looking forward to the next one. Clo*se to Ho*me is pretty good if you like quirky crime drama/courtroom stuff. Crim*inal Minds is ok, I'm trying to enjoy it...but I'm slow to jump on board. Things I already watch that are having good seasons: Gr*ey's Anatomy, We*st Wing, and C*SI is BACK! This season has been really good so far, gritty and twisty, back to the beginning. That's it for now, time for soup! :) posted by AM | 10/25/2005 10:34:00 PM Tuesday, October 18 Hey guys, you are not forgotten. No lame excuses, I just haven't been keeping up. I've been working at the office, working at home, dog sitting, and most recently - sick! I love that part, lemme tell ya. It's just a head cold thing, hoping it doesn't migrate to my chest, too early for that nonsense! :) I have to get up early tomorrow and head to the hospital for the yearly blood work stuff... always a hoot. :) Then off to work to try to make up some of the work I've missed over the past two days while out cold in bed. I went to a rubber stamp party on Sunday, where you make your own cards and stuff. I wasn't really into it, not that I don't enjoy a certain level of creativity, but I loathe the crafty/country shit, so I figured I wouldn't find much of interest. I actually sort of enjoyed it! Heather and I ordered some kits together (so sick now I don't recall what they are, but I think we liked them) and figured itwas something we might do while together, so we'd just share some supplies rather than going whole hog into it right off the bat. I don't think I'd get into full scrapbooking, too much time/effort/money, planning too. But card making could be fun, and is easier in general because it's just little projects, or a bunch of Xmas cards. I think I'll like it once we get some supplies together. Check out the Dimensions Forums, all new... very fun and lively, good place to stop by for a peek if you're interested! :) Bye for now! posted by AM | 10/18/2005 09:55:00 PM Monday, October 3 Recipe for ya. My own, made up kiel*basa soup (for lack of a better name). I posted this on a forum recently, so figured I'd share it here for those of you who are interested in cooking. This is a completely made up concoction, but I love it and eat it about 2 times a week. You need: * 1 can of shelled beans (or pink/light red kidney beans, but I preferred shelled) * 1 can of diced tomatoes (I use roasted garlic or onion variety, but NOT italian herb or something, NOT the right flavor) * 1 kielbasa (I use light because I'm not such a fan of the super grease, but it's up to you) * Cooked rice (I use white, and I cook about 2 cups of the raw rice, so whatever that equals cooked * 1 large can of chicken broth (48 oz) * sweet onion * minced garlic Combine broth, can of tomatoes, can of beans, pepper, onion powder*, garlic powder* into large soup pot (like a big kettle, it makes a bunch), boil and or simmer while you prepare the rest. I cut the kielbasa in half down the middle (long way) and then I cut each half into 1/4 inch or so strips. That way they are sort of bite-size half moons in the soup. You can do it whatever way you want. You're going to heat/lightly brown the kielbasa, some diced onion, and minced garlic in a frying pan. You can use as much or as little of them as you'd like, but I usually use about a tablespoon of garlic, and a large diced wedge of onion. When everything is heated, onions are getting wet/translucent, you can stop cooking and add everything to the pot. When the rice is done, you add that in to the pot as well. I usually add it about half, then a little more and keep stiring until I have a good broth/stuff ratio... again, totally up to you how wet or thick you'd like it. I usually cook it about 20 more mins (simmer) so the rice can soak up a bit more broth and set all the ingredients together... then eat it! Hope that makes sense, I've never had to break it all down as I just sort of threw it all in a pan one day and kept doing it since then! posted by AM | 10/03/2005 11:08:00 PM |
