Saturday, July 30 I'm back, baby! Oh my God, the move is over... finally!! I feel like I've been moving for 3 months. I moved on Weds, which was the hottest (and most humid) day we've had this summer. It was just unbearable. I was sweating, the movers were dripping, and just to add some fun to the mix, my parents joined in the fun! God, it was unreal. Also, my new place is the size of a postage stamp, so it was tight quarters, and I was very emotional because I was so tired and stressed and hot, etc. I managed not to cry while my dad was around, he really, really doesn't deal well with that. Late in the day we went back to my old place to get da boyz and move them over to the new home. They were not too happy about that, but in the past 3 days they've done pretty well. I think it helps that there are two of them, for sure. Orange is pretty brave and he walked around and explored pretty quickly. He did the ol' belly skulk around the perimeter, but it was enough to let Grey know that nothing was going to kill him, so he ventured out as well. They hid most of the next day, but so far today they're good. A little jumpy, but nothing that I wouldn't expect. I hope they like it here, although I think as long as I'm with them, they are fine. I have to leave next weekend for the NAAFA convention, so I'm preparing for that. I have quite a bit of laundry and packing and a few other things to do, so it will be a busy week, no doubt. I just got my internet back, and the phone is still being worked on. I have to say, although I spend a lot of time alone, I have never felt so isolated having no phone or internet connection. At least now that I can get back online I'm a bit better off. But the no phone thing really, really sucks. I have my cell, but the reception is terrible here. I have about a 1 foot square area on my deck that I can use it, the rest is pretty much unusable. Okay... I think that brings me up to date. Celebrate by getting your nails done - your hands will be that much more attractive as you're taking the last chicken wing. Friday, July 8 I'm fucking exhausted... body and mind. I've spent every spare moment for the past 2 weeks over at my soon-to-be apartment, painting about every square inch of it. Thank GOD my Mom has been helping me, there is no way in hell I could get it all done alone. The only thing left is the bathroom (can't do that until the plumber comes and gets some stuff done), and some touch up work around the doors, etc. It took two days to get the bedroom done, and the walls are shit... I mean, I dunno. It's like a monkey lived in this place before me (it was a single guy from what I understand, but he lived like a monkey). The walls are bumpy and damaged, and there is some kind of repair paper on them that has bubbled up under the paint, but it's not something I can fix, so I'm just letting it go. I painted the bedroom a sort of soft brown color (sort of like cocoa mix?). Anyway, with all the painting pretty much done, there is just some floor cleaning left until I can conquer the bathroom. But the major work of my current apartment remains. I have to throw out about half of what I own, and that includes quite a bit of furniture (old bookcases, dresser, etc). It will be nice to have less stuff, and have a somewhat easier move, but getting down to that little amount is going to be a pretty big undertaking. Again, thank God for my mother. :) Okay...
