Day-to-Day Doings I read that somewhere. I wrote it down, and then I read it.

New pink hat: $20 Water: $16 (4 bottles) An end of summer day at Fenway: Priceless.
HOT AS HELL, but worth it. We headed to the Sox game today... myself, Cindy, Deidra and Stephen. It was about 90 degrees, and beating sun in the humid air. A combination of nice and torturous for a day outside at a ballgame.
As soon as we parked a ball came flying out of the park and landed near our parking space. I found it behind a parked car and gave it to Stephen, he had that "ball for me???" look on his face.
The stands were packed, but if you weren't under a balcony, the heat from the sun was brutal after even just a few minutes. Thank God I wore a hat (had two actually because I bought a new one while I was there!). We had seats at a nice level (even with bull pen roof), but way in far right field, so sort of hard to see too much detail with the players and calls. But sitting there I was really struck by the park. Fenway is so beautiful, and it's just such a gem in the community here. Walking up a ramp and into that park is a wonderful, old, charming, cozy feeling. I hope they never do away with it.
We left during the 8th inning... we were up by 5 runs, and sweeping the series anyway, so there wasn't much question about how it would end. I wish I'd had the desire for a Fenway Frank, which I half did, but it was SO damn hot, I couldn't imagine eating a hot dog. I was a little bummed about missing that part of the experience. I had a frozen lemonade, but it just wasn't the same. :)
I am home now, burned quite a bit on the face and shoulders, but a nice way to wrap up the summer. Now it's salad time and waiting out the humid weather, hoping it will break tonight. *fingers crossed*
I got home from NY on Monday afternoon. What a long drive, but up to see nice friends in a beautiful area. I couldn't live way up there, but the land and surroundings are really beautiful. I wish I'd taken some pictures while I was there, but time was limited and it just never got done.
I learned how to make stained glass (thanks, Skye!!) and it was so fun and fulfilling, I really wish it was something I had the space to pursue on my own. Meanwhile, I'll just have to make long trips up there and learn more from her. :) I was able to make two small pieces, one for me and something that I gave to my mother. The only reason I was able to get them done was Skye did all the "grinding" for me (I was afraid to cut myself. :).
So, here I am at home again, and I'm realizing that I'm read to live in a "home" not just a place. In an attempt to get further along that road, I'm going to put some time into filling in the blanks in my house. I need to get some furniture, finish my guest room so that it can actually hold guests, etc. I am going to start working on this and try to feel a bit more together here in the homestead.
Socially... I have a baseball gaming coming up this weekend, so that should be fun. I haven't been to a game in years, so I'm looking forward to that. Labor Day weekend is a big weekend event for Heavenly Bodies. That's going to be here before I know it.
Oh, I forgot to post the picture taken with Mik*ey, so here it is. It's a cropped version, but it's the only one I have on the computer right now. The full version includes Heather on his other side.
Well, as much as I like being home at long last, I am heading out again! Only for a few days this time. I'm heading to NY for a couple of days to visit Skye and her guy, and their gaggle of animals. It should be a nice time, we're just going to hang out and do a bunch of nothing I think. Sounds like a plan to me!
Killing time. I've been killing time all week and I'm not good at it. Generally I have a lot of other things to distract me from waiting games, but it's been a slow time work wise and there's not much else going on, so time just ticks and ticks.... I'm forced to just mark the hours with reruns, conversations with good friends and today, a book. Although I suppose on closer examination, those are the activities that define our lives. Life is in the details.
Heather has been urging me to read The Note*book for a while now. She mentioned it a long time ago, but on our recent trip to NJ she actually bought me a copy. I read the first 40 pages or so the other night and enjoyed them enough to keep going.
Today, in an attempt to ease the passing hours, I traveled deep into the story and I must say, it was fairly good. I cried from page 59 to the end. It's just relentless that way. I think if you've been in love, in real love, you would recognize it in the words, but if not, it may not have a similar impact on you. It wasn't earth shattering or life changing, it said things I knew and have known since I was first in love. But it was really nice to read something that made you feel that sensation, and I think that's what Heather was talking about. I'm probably one of the last to read it, but if you're considering it... it's a quick read and you might enjoy it.
The crying, although sobbing at moments, was genuine and really felt good after it was over. Guys probably don't get that quite as much as the girls, but sometimes a cry that is not a direct result of something going on can be really good. It just lightens you up, it's even relaxing in it's own way.
So, I'm having a happy afternoon post-read, and although the weather is sort of sucky here, it's a nice evening here in New England. Not such a bad place to be killing time. :)
I'm back, and today was a LONNNNGGG day of travel. We were up around 10, left Atlantic City around 1pm, and aside from about 2 hours out of the car... well, that was it. I just got in about 15 mins ago and I am very glad to be home.
We had a nice time. The convention was decent and fairly well-attended. I feel like there are some changes going on in the organization, and hopefully that will be a good thing in the future. I guess only time will tell.
We had a totally stupid, but fun, thing happening on Saturday night. Heather was out smoking and I was sitting with her, and a car pulled up, and this guy gets out that we both immediately recognized. It was Mik*ey from Amer*ican Chop*per. I had my camera with me, so we jumped up, gave the camera to John and went to be huge dorks and ask for a picture. Heather informed him he had no idea what he'd walked into, that the hotel was full of fatties, but it was important that we be the first with a picture - and we were. :) I will post it when I get them off my camera.
So that wasn't it... noooooo. About 20 mins later, he ended up coming to the event... LOL, it was pretty damn amusing I must say. He was nice, took lots of pictures with people, he was drunk off his ass (and possibly enjoying something else... but who am I to say?) He told us many times that he digs big chicks, dated them, blah, blah. True? I have no clue, but he couldn't stop sharing. His body guard was about 5 paces back all the time, but he was clearly having a good time just trying to figure what to make of it all.
On Monday we headed to Atlantic City and spent the majority of the day going up and down the boardwalk, then to our hotel late that night. We gambled on Tuesday, then headed back today, so it was a pretty quick trip. Worked out well for me, I was there long enough to see some sites, but not long enough to lose a ton of money. :)
Ooooookay. I'm beat. I'm going to go cuddle up with da' boyz and get some rest. :)
Ever just have a GREAT mood going on and you just wish you could bottle it to have another day as well? I'm having one of those days. :) I had a nice night last night, and I slept very little, although I'm still doing ok energy wise.
Plus, on the way to Heather's this morning I caught some great tunes on the radio... including Debaser/Pixies. You just can't beat that kind of morning!
We're going to get going shortly, and if I can I'll check in from the road. :)
I am leaving veeerrrryyyy early in the a.m. to rendezvous with Heather and John, and hit the road for NJ. We'll be at the convention through Sunday (NAAFA convention info) then we're going to do a quick couple of days in Atlantic City. I've never been down there, so I'm looking forward to checking it out and some gaming time.
If you're in the northeast and you want to check out any of the convention, you definately should not hesitate. You can get a schedule of events at the link above, along with prices, etc. Pretty much any evening event can be paid for "at the door", so you can check out the pool parties, dances, etc.
(from a post I made on the WB... figured I'd share it here as well.)
I must admit, the recent terror threat target has my mind all a flutter with the possible ramifications on our upcoming gathering in NJ. My scenario is, I'm sure, not the truth...
Or is it??
You see, it's not really an Islamic extremist threat. It's an elaborate, and very clever, guise perpetrated by the Surgeon General and the leaders of the WAR on Fat to quell the most active voices in the size movement.
It's a beautiful plan really... we're coming from far and wide, with the fat and wide. The biggest, baddest, most outspoken and inspiring women and men in the fat movement. We'll be gathered in a single building holding our little workshops and buying our size 8x slinky pants. We'll never know what hit us.
Hell, even Paul Campos is joining us!! They can't silence our powerful voices any other way, they've resorted to the unthinkable.
Or not. *I am NOT making light of terrorist threats, it's just a very silly geographic coincidence, I couldn't resist the mind play.**
Well, after much thinking and figuring out schedules, etc.. Heather, John and I are headed down to NJ for the NAAFA convention.
It is running from Aug 4-8th at the Liberty Airport Marriott in Newark and it includes workshops, speakers, and two evening dance events on Friday and Saturday. If you are in NY, NJ, CT, PA, or beyond, you should check out the parties at the very least... best place to meet people from all over the country, and I get the feeling there is going to be a good crowd this year. You can attend the evening events just by paying at the door, so no worries if you're a last minute planner.
So, we're heading down on Weds, will be be there through the weekend, then we may head to AC for a day or so to do a quick little bit of gambling.
