Day-to-Day Doings I read that somewhere. I wrote it down, and then I read it.

Couple of link-a-doos.
First... the Carter speech, thanks to Christina for the transcript link. Do yourself a favor and take 5 minutes out of your life to read that. You'll feel better for having done so.
After you do that, you can lighten up for a few with this funny movie. I'm sure many have seen it, but I think it's pretty funny, and worth a watch. Plus, it bashes both sides equally, so something for everyone! :)
I think he's an incredible humanitarian anyway, and the epitome of a dedicated public servant. He and the misses are what it means to be a vehicle for change, and that is why he was awarded the Nobel Peace Prize.
But the speech... oh my. If you didn't see, please try to find a transcript and read it. I was in tears by the end, it was an impassioned statement of who we should be as Americans, what we are, and all the things we should strive towards. I want to have the kind of faith that President Carter has in the people of this country. I do most of the time, but sometimes it's hard.
If I find a link to the transcript I'll post it, but as yet I've been unable to locate one.
I had no intention of reposting this, but apparently I'm a bit more competitive than I thought.
If you haven't voted for me, and you would like to do so, PLEASE..... go to LadyBWear Contest and click on my picture. If you already voted but did NOT get the email to click the link, etc... check your spam folder, or attempt a revote (even another email address will work if you can't find the verification reply).
Okay, that's it... I can taste the outfit (assuming that will be the prize) and I was sort of hoping I might get it.
So, life in a relatively small city (around 30k) can be pretty exciting when there is an opening. A movie opening you ask? Ohhh no, a SUPERmarket opening.
Yeah, you heard me. We had a big ol' "super" market opening this week. Now, we already have a relatively large market (hot food section and all that junk), but this one is the next level without being a Super Wal*mart mess.
I spent 3 hours there last night with my mother wandering around the aisles and doing some shopping. I didn't do a full search of the housewares section, but I did spy area rugs, bath towels, and different sets of dishes. That is UNHEARD of in this burb. You have to go "up the line" to the mall to get that stuff... so this is quite a treat!! :)
Yeah, it doesn't take much to excite us here. The place was mobbed, everyone in town was there and there were tumbleweeds blowing through the aisles at the other "markets" in town. I've now stripped them of their "super" status, until they have pillows and bedding next to the butter, there is nothing super about them.
If you have a thorn in your paw over Fox News, here's a good way to do a little something. Will it result in any change? Eh, who knows, but at least it might make you feel better.
You click the link, put in your info, and the letter shown (along with comments if you'd like to add them in) will be sent to the FTC.
If you're a Fox News fan, obviously you'll want to skip this. :)
Hey everyone, hope you had a nice weekend. I sure did. I wasn'texpecting to do much of anything, but it ended up being fun and relaxingall in the same.
On Friday, we developed a last minute plan to hit a club in Cambridge.Heather, John, Meish, Nino and Missy and I all went to Man*ray. It was somesort of "any fetish" night or something, but it was nice. Pretty good crowd, lots of people dressed up in various outfits, and hardly even a sidewaysglance at the fatties. It's a nice atmosphere when you can just go in, hangout and enjoy and it's not a "thing". I also welcome any club where I actuallyget checked out, and it happens there relatively often, so that was fun too.
The best thing for me was the newly implemented "no smoking" lawin MA. I'm not sure if Cambridge had it in place prior, but no matter, itwas smoke free in the club and man, was that a nice change of pace. I knowit was a pain for the smokers (everyone with me except Missy), but it wasso nice to just be there and not have that stench of smoke follow you home.
After the club we returned to the hotel and were up until closeto 5am waiting for beds and pizza and assorted other crap. We slept in aslate as we could, then headed over to a wonderful lunch in the North End...yummy! We all enjoyed it... well Missy didn't like her selection, but sheenjoyed some of mine, so she was fine. After lunch we toddled over to anItalian bakery and got a few treats to bring home.
That was Saturday, and I had that "Sunday" feeling, so it wasnice to head home and have another whole weekend day to spend with da boyz'and get a little work done.
So, Monday is here, and I haven't shopped for groceries in about 4 weeks, so I guess today is going to be the day. A friend gave me a crock pot and I'm eager to see if I can actually make anything in it.
I'm back from Vegas, and tonight I'm pretty damn tired.
It was a nice trip... nothing too exciting, just some gambling, a few side trips, about 3 afternoons of quality pool time which was really nice!!
I saw lots of out of town friends (people I run into at bashes throughout the years, etc.), which is a nice part of going to them. It was hot, hot... but honestly, the dry heat is the way to go. No humidity. I was out on a tour for over an hour walking around in the beating sunshine and barely broke a sweat. Thank GOD for sunblock is all I can say. I only got one very mild burn the entire time I was there, and that was after 4 hours in the pool and only where I didn't really apply completely. Not too bad.
NAAFA is up in the air for me, just not sure if I'll be attending. I've got a few weeks to decide, so we'll see.
We got out to see Gree*n Vall*ey Ranch, which is the basis for the show Amer*ican Cas*ino, so that was fun. We were hoping to run into some people from the show, but in a very odd twist of fate... the morning of the day we visited, they had discovered Michael Ta*ta dead in his apartment. If you watch the show, you know who he is, but if not... no worries, he has just been a large part of it. We were really shocked, he was a young man, and it was just so odd. I guess I won't forget that part of the trip.
Yesterday, while waiting for the plane, I saw Smok*ey Robinson. He walked about 4 feet in front of me, so that was kind of cool.
Alrighty, I think that about wraps it up... I'm going to go hang with da boyz for a while.
This will be my last typed entry for about a week. I leave Tuesday evening for good ol' Vegas and I'll be gone until next Tuesday. I'm really looking forward to the trip, Delaney and I are going to have a really good time.
I am not packed just yet, but the clothes are clean and it will just be a matter of getting my junk together. I hate that "forgetting" feeling, but I guess it just goes along with travel. I won't fret too much, I'm sure if I forget anything I can pick it up there.
Points we're planning to hit?? Green Val*ley Ranch, Slots*a*fun (for the giant hot dog), we're going to a special place (secret!! I'll tell ya when I get back), we'll probably also hit the Riv, Freemont St, maybe the Sahara, Red Rock Canyon and of course, THE POOL!!! :)
I'm going to miss my kitties. I know that sounds sort of stupid, but I was looking at them tonight, sleeping away... they're so cute, I already miss them and I'm not even gone yet! :) They will be fine, their grandma is going to come visit and play with them so they don't think they've been abandoned.
Oookkkkay, I'd better toddle off and get some rest, it's going to be a really, really long day tomorrow.
Be good everyone! If I check in from the road it will be via voice message on here.
I've never been someone who waves flags or tears up at the national anthem, it's just not my thing.
I love my country, and I love what we are capable of... the good of course, not so much the bad. I've never been overly political, and I'm still not, but I am definitely feeling more of a sense of duty to share, inform, push the voting issue... the idea of getting the uninvolved or complacent more involved and less complacent.
On this day that we celebrate our independence, I just thought I'd touch quickly on something that really bothers me.
I don't like being accused of being a traitor or unAmerican for wanting better for our country and our people (this is in general terms). We can do better as a country, and our government can be better. We don't live in a bubble, we live in a global economy and culture, and we have a responsibility to work with the world. Name calling is the offensive move of a simple mind. We don't all have to agree with each other, but you can't hold up the "wonder" of what America is and in the same breath knock down those who think our country is making mistakes.
I'm really not trying to start a big political thread here, it's not my intention. I just want to be clear that you can indeed love your country, but that love means that concerns are valid, and that you are not obligated to blindly follow a path that is harmful to others. Patriots love their country and want the best not only for the people who live here, but for our place in the world. Bullies never win, and their power is very fleeting.
Happy Fourth of July everyone. **waves a tiny flag**
Okay, it's not political but hey, voting is voting. I'm currently in the LadyBWear BBW competition, so please feel free to go and vote. Obviously, vote for anyone you'd like... but if you throw it my way, thanks in advance!! :)
