Day-to-Day Doings
I read that somewhere. I wrote it down, and then I read it.

New Year!

I'm a couple of days early, admittedly, but the new year is coming and I just wanted to take a minute to wish you all a happy one. It's been a nice year for me, plenty of time with friends, some nice trips, plenty of work, new kitties... all in all, no major complaints here.

I am heading off Weds to the Heavenly Bodies New Year's Party. We always have a big ol' shindig complete with classy decorations, dinner, dancing late into the night, and a champagne toast to top it all off. I have a new dress for the occasion, and I'm looking forward to dressing up and having a nice night with friends.

For all of you, please enjoy yourselves... and PLEASE don't drink and drive. Cliche as it may sound, it's really an issue of mine and I'd hope that if you don't have enough concern for your own safety, you will consider that of others.

Happy new year!!

Happy holidays everyone!

I had a very nice Christmas with family, very quiet and low key. I got a Cocomotion machine... very cool hot chocolate maker. For those of you who drink coffee.... well, screw ya. I don't, and it's nice to have a machine dedicated to making another warm beverage. Mmmmm. :)

I got pretty much a whole new bed set, which is nice. I'd love to actually try to make my bedroom look like a bedroom. The last few places I've lived the bedroom is by far the most neglected area. I always have a comfy bed, and a warm down comforter, etc... but it's rare that I get around to decorating it and making it a little retreat. There's not much incentive when no one sees it. :) LOL... so anyway, the new comforter is really nice, and I hope it gives me the movtivation to put a few things on the wall, etc.

The boys are doing just fine, they are nutty, playful and completely cute. They've been here a month now, and they seem perfectly adjusted. The grey boy, who is the more timid of the two, is coming along. He will come see me on his own terms, and if I seem non-threatening. He likes to come up for some pets while I'm laying in bed, or watching tv. They have taken over my living room... it's like a kitty daycare center in this place. I'm going to try to get it down to a few square feet and see if it works.

I hope you all had a wonderful holiday and enjoy the weekend.

Monday, December 15

Monday, Monday.

Okay, this weather stuff... sucks!

I had a dance this weekend, went well. It was our first time in Rhode Island, and we co-sponsored the event with the group down there. It went pretty well, decent crowd, fun time... a nice event overall.

A friend of mine stopped by towards the end of the night, and it was really good to see him. He's recently had a loss in his family, and my heart just goes out to him so much - he's a great guy. It's never a good time to lose a loved one, but holidays can really just make it so much harder. We talked about it for a while, had a few laughs over other things, and hopefully the time spent served as a small distraction during such a difficult time for him.

On Sunday, I went to Deidra's annual holiday gathering where we load up on good treats, and do an old-fashioned Yankee Swap. It was good, although many of the expected guests were not there, I assume due to the weather trouble we were having. I ended up getting some cool slippers in the swap, so yay for me! They're blue and fuzzy, looks like Cookie M*onster feet!

We headed out around 6pm, but it wasn't early enough. What should take an hour took almost 3, and by the time I was home my patience was tapped out and my knuckles were white from the death grip I had on the wheel. I hate driving in those conditions.

So, I'm home again, the kitties are having play time. They're such good boys. I went from one cat who was practically invisible, to two complete nutcases who run all over the place and one who tries to practically climb inside me he loves me so much. LOL Amazing what a few weeks can do. :)

Have a nice night, all.

Kissin', and huggin', and squeezin.

A post on the Dim WB made me start thinking about public displays.

I like 'em.

I'm not sure if it's because I'm a chick (I fancy myself as not overly chicky most of the time), or because I'm a fat chick, or just sort of a romantic or what. I just really like when I'm with someone I care about (meaning a person I date/see, etc) when I can give them a kiss, hold hands, stand with his hand on my back, etc. I just sort of like the feeling of knowing that you can touch this person that way, and that they can feel free to touch you. It's sort of nice to display that license to others around you. "We share something and we're not afraid to let you know."

I'm definately not talking about slurpy public make out sessions or inappropriate touching, no reason for all of that. I just mean general affectionate gestures that say "I care" and say to others "I'm with...." I suppose that second part is largely due to being a big girl and having felt for so long that no one would want to be with me that way. Just to have someone comfortable enough, and bold enough to be with me without hesitation, doesn't seem like it should be that big of a deal... but it is. Smiles for miles in that situation.

Hmmm, now if I just had access to that good stuff.

Wednesday, December 3

Oh My Burrrrr!!!

Woah, what the hell is going on??? It went from about 50 degrees to 18 in 10 seconds flat. We had these bizarre snow squalls yesterday that were so crazy you'd think you'd hit the North Pole. They lasted only about 15 mins or so at a time, but some dumped an inch of snow in drifts, it was nutty!!

So today we were left with the freezing weather, and a cold, hard reminder that winter is HERE! I had to go out, much to my dismay, but I guess I can't complain much since I don't have to deal with the commutes and all that nonsense right now.

I attempted to make myself a yummy comfort food dinner tonight. It was an unmitigated disaster, I must say. I was making chicken pie, which my mother is making on Xmas, but since she mentioned it, I've been wanting it really bad. So I get everything, and I don't know what the hell I did, but I ended up with sauce everywhere, an overfilled pie shell, and to top it off I overcooked the top crust a bit so it has burn areas. Mmmmm.

I'm actually a pretty good cook, but this dish has never come together for me. I'm going to have to try to watch mom make it and see what the hell I'm doing wrong.

The bonus was I have a half a big bowl of left over boiled potatoes. Can you say mashed?? Ooooo yeah.

On the kitty front, they are out, nuts and really need to have their claws clipped... the orange one has sliced me open in about 10 different places now. They're good boys, upstairs playing right now and acting like wild cats. Still no names. I suck.
