Day-to-Day Doings
I read that somewhere. I wrote it down, and then I read it.

Emmys sucked.

I admit I've resigned myself to not expecting much from these shows, but I am a pretty avid TV fan, and as a result I usually enjoy the Emmys. I don't really watch the Oscars, Tony's, Grammys, anything else, all that.

So this year, I settled in to watch them, and man... it was awful. I'm not a Gary Shandling fan, but I can usually take him in small doses. NOT this time. He was awful, not funny, looked really bad. I was lost just about that time. BUT, I held on, hoping for something.

I got Jon Stewart... thank GOD. He was good, although his segment was way too small. Other than that, the show was pretty much too damn long and uneventful.

OH, wait... almost forgot the worst part: Wanda. What the hell?? Nice dress, I'll give her that. But I found her so annoying, completely off base, her voice is like nails on a chalk board and her segments were downright painful to me. I was reading a review of the show on some URL, and they actually suggested that next year she should be the ONLY host. I'm sure it's a conspiracy. :)

I was hoping to get to the BIG E this week with some friends, it's this big ol' festival/expo type thing they have here every year and I've never been. I wanted to cash in on some fair food! Yum. Unfortunately work didn't cooperate and I have a bit too much to do and can't play hooky. Oh well, maybe next year.

Have a nice night. :)

Krispy Kreme!!!

Yummmmmmm. I actually went to the new KK that is opened here in MA tonight, and when I got there the HOT NOW light was on!! Woo-hoo! Free, piping hot sample as we walked in the door... good stuff.

This was my first trek inside a KK, and it was good! All that I imagined and more... LOL. I got some classics, and a few custard iced... those are great! We sat for a few minutes, enjoyed a drink and a few bites... and home we came. It was a great little field trip.

I spent most of today cleaning my house. Man, I traveled a lot this summer, and it just was a mess. I think clothes could easilly take over at any given time. But it's looking pretty spiffy in here now, I just have some odds and ends to finish up tomorrow, and I'm done. I love the feeling of a clean place, it makes it so much more pleasant to be home. Plus there is little guilt in laying around doing nothing, because there is nothing to do!

I think I'm crashing offf my sugar high, so I'm going to go have some dinner (of course I didn't eat BEFORE KK, what are you, nuts?? :) )

Another midweek, is it?

I can't believe we're into September now, it seems impossible, but here I am.

This past weekend was our Heavenly Bodies Labor Day thingy, and it went really well. I think people had a lot of fun... which is always cool. I think ultimately that's the only thing we care about, and if that stops happening, then it's time to hang it up. We had almost 300 people on Saturday night, and about 140 or something on Sunday night (Sunday's are always slower). On Sunday afternoon we had a lunch event and set it up as a casino with some blackjack tables, a money wheel and a roulette table. It was a lot of fun! I got to deal blackjack, which was cool, but took some getting used to for sure. After a few hands I was getting the hang of it, although I did keep forgetting to deal myself a card. I have sympathy for those real dealers, but I guess it gets to be old hat after a time.

Speaking of gambling... I'm off to Mohegan Sun this weekend with the fat girls. John, Heather, Missy, Sophie and myself (and probably a few other stragglers) are heading down for Friday and Saturday and having a little mini-weekend of our own. I really like Mohegan, so it will be nice to be there for a bit. I just have to budget carefully, it's expensive to play there during prime time on weekends, the tables are high. I'm sort of hoping to go in the middle of the night... I do much better then... LOL

I got a new camera last week. I had been thinking about it for a while, and wondering about finding something to make small movie files as well... and this camera does it all. It's a Canon A70 3.2MP. I've taken a handful of pictures with it so far, nothing in optimal conditions (mostly dark at the dance, etc) and they've all come out very well. It's nice side is that is can be fully manual if you'd like. I'm a photography buff, so that appeals to the side of me who'd like to dabble again. But it's point and click out of the box, so I don't have to deal with all that to just take normal shots. I've already posted one medium quality movie file on the SnapShot of the Week page, and hopefully as time goes by I can do a few others, etc.

Hmmm, I think that's all. I still have no sock monkey. Just to keep you up to date on that. LOL :)
