Day-to-Day Doings I read that somewhere. I wrote it down, and then I read it.

Bitch, bitch, bitch.
Yup, that's what I'm ALLLL about right now.
First - blogger changed their user interface, and I don't really like it. I feel like it's really "dumbed down" for lack of any better description, and I don't know... I'm not feeling it.
Second. If someone emails me once, in a general sort of "nice site" kind of way, they SHOULD NOT ADD ME TO FORWARDS. I don't even like forwards from friends of mine, I don't answer chain letters, don't care about virus warnings (the real ones are on the news), the prayers are nice and all, but don't want them either. I get email all the time, tons of it... and if people are just going to willy-nilly add me to their "please boycot Target" emails, well, I just give up. I respond and ask nicely to not be included on any further forwards... but you know they're just thinking "bitch!". Yeah, that's me... big bitch.
Well, it's been a weird few days around here. First of all, I'm dying with allergies this year! Anyone else? I always have them, but it's particulary brutal this year for some reason. My medication barely keeps the sneezing and dripping under control. How attractive. Ooo la la!
I finally upgraded my Mac OS to Jaguar. Mac people are thinking "And you were waiting for... what???" Others, well... frankly... doesn't matter what you're thinking. :) I am happy with the upgrade, got my mail client all set up, desktop is a bit less "fidgety" I'll call it for lack of a better term, and the sounds are nice and crisp (not that they weren't before, but you can't beat the Sosumi brevity if you're an old Mac hand).
I also purchased a 30GB iPod today. Wooo - fucking - hoo!!! I was sort of back and forth on the purchase for a while, and about a week ago I convinced myself I would use it enough to justify the cost... so voila, it's mine. I went with the 30GB for bragging rights. Nah! I figured, for a 100 bucks more, double the space... really wasn't a big deal, well worth it. I think this size offers the best value. I have friends who have it, the old model, and love it "long time", so I expect to be one of them soon enough. Now.... I have to get on to importing 7,500 songs!
50 sit-ups?? Yes, I did them. It was a weird conversation that turned into a 10$ bet, and I did it. I have to admit, it's been about 15 years since I did any (I used to be able to do 200 or so in 50 at a time sets, without much trouble at all), but when I got down on the floor to do it... well, I had serious doubts. I could only do about 10 at a time then rest, then 5-10 more, etc... I had a 20 minute time limit. LOL - yeah, lame as we all are... that's how we pass the time.
Okay, Safari. Almost forgot. The new native Mac browser. Installed it today = LOVE IT so far. NOOOOO Java issues, thank GOD - I had a list of sites I couldn't visit through IE (f*ckers). So, all in all, I'm Mac'd out - and clearly wacked out, for even attempting sit-ups. I bet tomorrow I'm going to feel like a took a medicine ball to the gut.
Mmmm, just had 3 pieces of Cinnamon Swirl toast (Pepperidge Farms), yum!!!! Washed it down with a glass of Quik... mmm, good!
I used to love making cinnamon toast when I was little, but you know... the "make toast, butter, pour sugar and cinn. on top" way. Then you shake off the extra sugar, oooo, soooo good. This bread is sort of a "grown up" version of that, not so sweet, but nice taste.
And as for the weekend, I'm shocked it's over. I feel like I got nothing done to be honest, but I did some work today, and an update on the site, we had a dance on Saturday night... so I know I did something, it just flew. Working for myself, it's sort of odd, I can make my own time, so weekends don't have quite the weight they used to in my mind, but I still really look forward to them as a "rest" area on my schedule.
Well, I am either going to pass out now (from post-snack sleepiness) or do a little more work. Only time will tell! :)
Well it's been a crazy week here, mostly due to some commotion with the events Heather and I hold. We had to do some last minute location switch ups and it's stressed her out, as well as many of our patrons. In the over 5 years we've been doing these, we've never had to do this... and it's very confusing for everyone, we understand that.
The thing I wish people could get through their thick heads (and I can rant here because it's rare that anyone who attends reads my stuff) is that in most areas of the country - there is NOTHING to go to at all. These people set off on tirades because a new location is 30-40 mins away from them. They have no idea how good they've got it, that there is even ANYTHING to go to, let alone events that are really well-attended. There are dances in other parts of the country that get about 30 people, once a month. And they are doing really well. I'm not taking away from those endeavors. It's hard to get the word out, and if you can get 30 people to come, you're doing something right. It takes years sometimes for a person to get up the nerve to even attend. So when I see people who complain because it's a 30 min drive, I really just get angry. They don't realize the resource they have, but they're ready to bitch loud and clear when they think it will be gone. According to them, THAT's when we don't "care" about them.
Hmm, I wasn't intending to rant quite like that... I guess it's got me a bit more pissed than I thought. Well, anyway, we have an event tonight, and it's back at a location we started at 5 years ago... I'm sort of looking forward to it in a nostalgic way. I hope it goes well and that people like the location, that's about all you can want when everything has been so topsy turvy.
Quick kitty update: She's crazy I think. She's still afraid of me during the day, but at night, when I'm in bed "I'm Just a Love Machine" starts playing in her head and she won't leave me alone. She's a talker, that one. Catterwalling in my ears, love me, love me, love me. Which is fine, glad to do it. I'm just hoping that as days go by, she gets more comfortable with daylight hours as well, and we can cut down the 3-5am meowing attacks. :)
