Day-to-Day Doings
I read that somewhere. I wrote it down, and then I read it.

Is it 1981? *continue at your own risk, high sarcasm*

I got a promotional mailer from my cable company today, that outlines their enhanced "features", and why you should have cable, etc. Well, one of their features really caught my eye, and I thought I should mention it so you can all jump on this new technology.

They offer a remote control. Now, I know you're saying, sooo?? I felt the same, but you don't understand, this is no normal remote control. They mention that it's CORDLESS. You heard me right!!! It's untethered!!! You can roam about the room with it, and there is no bulky cord running back to the maching you're operating. Unreal.

I tell ya, I'm no venture capitalist or anything, but I predict these are REALLY going to catch on. Get one, now!!

;)

Thursday, December 19

Oh yeah, I have a blog!

Yeah, sorry about that... been sort of busy with the "holiday" thing. Whose idea was this Christmas thing anyway??? I mean, GETTING presents is great, but this whole "going out and finding them" thing... sort of sucks. I started late, was running low on cash, and time... so all in all, haven't had much fun filling in my present holes. I have just about everything now, but it looks like I'm going to be around the mall this weekend, despite my best efforts to avoid that.

I've had a lot of work to do, which is a good thing... means I'll have money in January and February. I was hoping to get a quick trip to Vegas in around the beginning of January, but I don't think it's going to work out money-wise (two tickets so I can be comfy, etc). I REALLY want to get back there sometime before the summer because a) I have the bug for playing some games in Vegas, and b) I would like to get out there when it's not 110 degrees. We'll see.

I may be hitting Mohegan Sun in CT this Friday night, if I can figure out a financial way to pull that off (may dip into the tax account a little... hmmm).

Okay, I'm going to heat up dinner (shepherd's pie) and do a bit more work. Toodles folks!! :)

An Affair of Love - Movie Moment

I just watched this French film, and it was pretty good. I caught it on cable tonight, rather unexpectedly, but I'm glad I watched it.

It's French, with subtitles, and is about a man and woman who meet through a personal ad that she placed, looking to fulfill a particular sexual fantasy. As time goes by, their anonymous weekly meetings leave them both with feelings that are more than sexual, and the movie simply goes through the meetings, and how the relationship progresses and turns out. It's told in flashback through a documentarian's interviews with the man and woman.

Now... it wasn't "WOW!!! GREAT MOVIE!!", but it was good. And being someone who has met people in many ways over the years, I thought it was relatively realistic in terms of how people deal with these things. The really interesting part for me though, was the leading man - Sergei Lopez.

This man is sooooo sexy. He reminds me very much of someone I know, so that probably helped quite a bit, but he really is just this sublte, manly, sexy, masculine example of what men are when they're not trying... and when they are just MEN. I couldn't take my eyes off of him through the movie, and just kept thinking that he's an independant star... maybe he wants a cute fat girlfriend?? Ahhh, probably not, but he's very appealing.

The female lead was atypical as well... a bit older, and attractive, but approachable. You could really see this match occuring. I think if you have a chance to catch the flick, it's an interesting slant on the average boy-meets-girl stories that we're usually fed.

Eyelid twitching.

Have you encountered this?? For the past 3 days the left side of my left eyelid has been sort of twitching. Nothing visable, but I can feel it, and it's driving me crazy. I seem to recall hearing that that is somehow related to a nerve or muscle that runs across your shoulder and up your neck. Maybe I need a massage. Well, who doesn't need a massage?? :)

Today's schedule went wayyyy off course. Stayed up too late, slept late as a result, and didn't get the work done I'd planned. I did some a bit, but not quite what I'd hoped, so tomorrow will be extra busy. I'll probably try to head back to it tonight as well... here's hoping. :)

Well, signing off this boring entry. Have a nice weekend folks!!

Candles and candy and snow, oh my.

The meterologists screwed this up big time. For me at least. The snow was supposed to end around 1am last night, well at 12:30 this afternoon it was STILL snowing here... I had at least 8 inches, and I was in the 3-5 area... but I'm so coastal, sometimes it's hit or miss.

I went out, broomed off the car, and hit the road. Someone sent me a package!!! I got the best box... it had some M&Ms, cookies and a beautiful box of aromatherapy candles (which I'll be sparking up in a few!). It was just a really nice treat, from a really nice friend who just brightened my snowy day quite a bit. Thanks!! :)

I also got a really cute birthday card last week from a nice guy in Utah, so thanks to you for that as well. I don't have an email address to thank you, so hopefully you'll see this. :) It was appreciated, and the only card I got in the mail this year... so a nice treat! :)

Okay, I'm off to have a sandwich and waft in a bit of aromatherapy. Bye for now!

Tuesday, December 3

Tuesday Shmoozeday.

I am slowly catching up on my work. I did 11 hours today, so I feel a bit better. I was getting that anxious "I'm getting buried" feeling after basically doing NOTHING last week (due to Thanksgiving and unmotivated mental health days). I'm almost back on track, so hopefully by Thursday I'll be even better, and next week things should be all caught up. I guess it's nice to have enough going on to be worried about it... good to keep a roof over the ol' noggin.

Sloop count:
110 received
66 eaten (and I am just digging into them for tonight).
I've had some questions about what the Sloops are, I forgot to put up the link last time in case you don't know what the hell I'm talking about. You can find them on my TREATS page, and there is a link to the Harbor Sweets website. But the basic idea is a toffee triangle, covered in white chocolate, and then the bottom is dipped in dark chocolate with some crushed nuts. I'm into the toffee and white chocolate more than the dark. I bite off the dark part first, then pop the other half in my mouth. Mmmmm. :)

I'd love to get my tree up by next week... I wonder if I'll pull it off? :)
